It's Christmas, and the picturesque city of York, where Jules, 16, lives with her father, David, is decked out for the season. David and Jules' relationship is similar to that of the majority of fathers and their sixteen-year-old daughters in many aspects. He's having trouble understanding her, and she's refusing to talk to him. He desires to be a part of her life; she desires her own space. David and Jules do, however, share a profound bond in one important way: the death of Jules' mother, and David's wife, in a car accident two years ago. Jules, inspired by happy memories of her mother, decides to take matters into her own hands as both struggle to cope with everyday life in the shadow of their loss.
