Tareq Hadhad and his Syrian family immigrate to Antigonish, Canada, after fleeing war-torn Lebanon after the family's chocolate factory is bombed. Tareq's father, Issam, resumes making chocolates, which are popular at the local church; neighborly Frank gathers local investors for a new factory; and local chocolatier Kelly feels threatened by the rivalry. While Issam's "Peace By Chocolate" company expands, Tareq is torn between his desire to become a doctor and his responsibilities to the family business.
