Wandering samurai Nemuri Kyoshiro (Raizô Ichikawa) discovers a bulls-eye on his back after befriending the shogunate's tightfisted financial adviser, Asahina, who has earned the wrath of the shogun's self-indulgent daughter by reducing her allowance. The enraged princess immediately devises a plan to have Asahina and his protector, Kyoshiro, bumped off. This installment of the hugely popular film series also stars Shiho Fujimura.
