Sam, who after his motorbike is harmed in an evident collision into the sea, comes to be stranded in a little New England town, finds sanctuary at a run-down motel managed by Kate, an in a similar way burnt-out, shed soul. The enigma around Sam's visibility in town unravels when it's discovered that his estranged daughter Audrey lives there - the daughter he hasn't seen her in 25 years.
