Victor Sandeman is a Brunel Global Securities senior partner. He has serious financial issues that can be resolved if the company's planned $100 million merger occurs. But the company's owner, Raymond Brunel, opposes it. Victor murders Raymond (faking a death by natural circumstances) to force the planned merger through. An unsolved mystery is Christine Sternwald, a potential witness. Christine, a paralegal and aspiring lawyer, is rebuilding her life after a sexual attack three years ago. When Victor and Christine encounter shortly after the murder in a vehicle accident, Victor is obliged to identify himself as Raymond Brunel.
