The Conductor
On a trip to the United States, a violinist in a provincial Polish orchestra, whose husband is the orchestra's director, meets the world-renowned symphonic conductor. He was once in love with the mother of the violinist, it turns out. The conductor, a bit unstable hypochondriac, returns to Poland to command the regional orchestra. He also tries to rekindle an old love affair by using the violinist as a surrogate for her mother. Her husband dislikes the conductor for personal as well as professional reasons.
