The Terror of Batignolles
Clouzot's expressionist comedy set in a bohemian enclave of northern Paris was heavily influenced by German Expressionism, and he made it shortly before working as an assistant director to Anatole Litvak and E.A. Dupont and beginning scripting French versions of German films at Berlin's UFA studios.
