After a legal battle between director Michael Powell and producer David O. Selznick, Gone to Earth(1950) was recut. Selznick's changes include: A prologue. (2) Labeling or inscribing things in sceneries to explain them. More Jennifer Jones close-ups. He also cut several scenes he thought were too mundane. Sadly, several of them were significant storyline pieces, and the story no longer makes sense.
