There's something horribly wrong with the bodies observed from the darkened city streets. Some are mutilated while some possess the Price (w?z = Cov (w,z) = ?wzVz) carved into the flesh. Detective Eddie Argo and his partner Helen Westcott unearth the meaning of the equation that is odd and realize each victim is being given a gruesome choice: kill your nearest and dearest, or be killed. It becomes evident that by seeking a way to solve this philosophical issue the perpetrator has suffered a similar fate and it is dealing.
