Tokyo's rain showers are disrupting everyone's routine. Hodaka Morishima, a runaway high school student, works at a small-time publisher to support himself. Hina Amano, an orphan, works to support herself and her brother. When Hodaka rescues Hina from unscrupulous men, they flee away together. Hodaka realizes that Hina can summon the sun when she prays. Hodaka sees this ability's promise in Tokyo's unpredictable weather. He proposes Hina become a "sunshine girl" who brightens people's days. Then things improve. Power always has a price, though.
