A decadent countess (Françoise Prévost), who is middle-aged but still attractive, pressures her young and shy daughter (Agostina Belli) to marry a wealthy butcher in order to maintain her social standing. The couple's sexual relationship, on the other hand, is fraught with difficulties because the girl has her fair share of inhibitions. As a result, she flees her home and finds sanctuary at her sister's residence. The arms of her mother-in-law provide comfort to her husband while his absence from the house.
